Work Reference Letter

Post by fpvt2 » Tue Nov 08, 2005 2:02 am

Regarding the work reference letter, if I am only applying for graduate level work (and not senior level work), does my employer need to states the size of their company and draw an organizational chart of the company ? Or, will stating the time of work, my title and my duties be enough ? Thanks a lot.

I think this is very straight foward if you checked the guidiance notes.

Your reference letter only need to state the start & end dates, jobs descriptions/responsibilities and that it's a graduate level position.

That's all!

The reason why I asked this question is the following:
On the Guidance note point 7 talks about Graduate level work experience, point 8 talks about Senior level work experience.
From what I understand point 9 and 10 are related to point 8, where the company also needs to state the size of the company, department or project team/research team, a hierarchy chart showing your position and the number of staff in the company.

When I asked HSMP about it, I got conflicting answer.
One person said even though I am only seeking points for graduate level work, and not senior level work, my company will still need to provide the size of the company, a hierarchy chart showing your position and the number of staff in the company.
Another person said if you are only claiming for graduate level work expereince, we will only require a full job description on your references.
That was why I am confused which one is correct.

Thank you.

fpvt2,

You will only need your reference letter to state the start & end dates, jobs descriptions/responsibilities and that it's a graduate level position for a graduate level point claim.

Just make sure that your reference letter is on an original letter-head of the company giving you the reference.

This was the way I did it and most people I know who also claim graduate level point did it this way too. And we were all awarded 25 points.

I just believe that you don't really need to put your application thru' unnecessary stress by claiming high points from each category if you could actually get the least points from other categories to make up 65. Thatz all you need!

For example if you can claim 15 from Academics;

25 from work experience and another 25 from earnings, to make 65.

Even if you have 15 years working expereince from ur work why unnecessary stress of producing documents upon documents which may confuse the case worker. Since the higher points you claim the more documentations of evidences and that's calling for more troubles.

Though this may not be the case for everybody, especially if you could better organize your documentations, I mean your evidences.

I just believe that these guys are humans and sometimes too much documentations could bore them and you never can tell, attention may not be given to the most important areas of your application.

Even though somebody may argue this but I tell you human error is real and u never can tell you may be the next victim.

I think that should do man, sorry for this long novel writing!

Hope it help?
