came on hsmp posted back to home country for 3 months FLR ?

Post by kdoshi2005 » Fri Dec 02, 2005 6:29 am

I came to UK on HSMP in sept 2005, got a job with a company who posted me to my home country (india) in October 2005 for setting up a manufacturing operation, this posting is for 3 months so I will be back in Uk in January 2006. My hsmp is valid upto May 2006, will my remaining out on UK company assignment affect my application for FLR ? The company pays my salary in UK.

Assuming that to be the only overseas posting, no I would not expect you to encounter a problem getting your desired renewal.

Kdo... be sure no to exceed 3months. That means you have only 3 months to be out of the country to qualify for Naturalization.

Papafaith, why? He appears to be only at the start of any naturalisation qualifying period. The test you are referring to only applies to the last year of the five-year qualifying period.

There is also a five-year test .... not outside the UK for more than 450 days in that five-year period ... but under that test it is not necessary to look at the day counts in each of those five years ... only the five-year period as a whole.

However Kdo, certainly keep your days outside the UK to a minimum.

You are right John, just wanted to call his attention to keeping his outings to a minimum, in case it becomes an issue at the end.

Thanks for reply friends.

Someone told me that I should inform Home Office about my absence on company assignment, do you think this is correct.
