Tier 1 Vs Tier 2 Query - Pls help

Post by T1G_Aspire » Sat Sep 25, 2010 5:03 pm

Hi,
I work for an Indian MNC and I recently got my Tier 1 General (lots of
thanks to this forum) valid till July 2012. (I have two dependants and have not got dependant visas for them yet).

Now, I have an UK long term (2yr) onsite opportunity in my company and have to start for the assignment early Nov. The company usually applies for
Tier 2 visas for self and the dependants for onsite openings.

I'm confused now, as to whether I should ask the company to apply for Tier 2 visas for the three of us, or should I apply for Tier 1 dependant visas (taking the cost of Rs.100,000 for 2 ppl) myself and continue to maintain my Tier 1 visa.

Can you please advise which could be the better option for me with reason?

Thanks!

It depends on your situation and preference. If you apply for tier 2 visa, your tier 1 will be invalid. But, if you continue to have tier 1 then you can switch your company in UK. It really depends on you. One more thing is whether your company would be ready to send you on a tier 1 visa as they would not have any control on you. So, it is upto you to decide on which visa you want to travel to UK.
