Travelling on job

Post by galatie » Tue Oct 05, 2010 10:46 pm

I have decided to accept a new position in New York, starting in January.

I will work as a consultant for a biotech company, and for the first month or two, be traveling continuously through Central America and Western Africa to oversea clinical trials for the drug my company is developing. I will still be based in New York however, and my payslips will be deposited every month into my American bank account.

When I go to apply for my tier 1 next summer, will the eco have a problem with this? I am not sure what the exact rules are in regards to foreign earnings but I am sure that they will see in my passport that I travelled for the first two months of the job. Surely, if I am being paid in US dollar and traveling for the sole purpose of work, this should not be a problem?

If anyone could help, that would be great. Thanks!
