Tier 1 (General) from outside the UK

Post by Shunmas » Tue Nov 16, 2010 12:01 am

Hello !

This being my first post ...nice to be here...

I am considering to settle in the UK from Middle East....now I see 2 choices:

GHSM and Entrepreneur - both under TIER 1

In both cases, I am going to bring in around £350K to start my own business. Personally I feel confident about GHSM as I have calculated my points several times and qualified.

However, after the first 3 yrs, I have to renew/extend it and then after 2 yrs of extension (5 yrs in total), I can apply for ILR and after 2 yrs of ILR, the PASSPORT & Nationality...

However, someone told me the Entrepreneur route will be most effective.

But I am concerned with further renewal/extension, if any, of this category and then ILR.

Can you please advise the preferred route given my circumstances above?

Thanks

No one can tell you today what the rules will be in 2015-2016.

Under current rules, both Tier 1 (General) and Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) migrants are given 2 years leave (initially) and then 3 years leave at the time of extension. Migrants under both categories can, under current rules, may apply for settlement after 5 years of stay in the UK.

Given the recent announcement by the government on settlement reforms, you may wish to consider deferring travel to UK under the PBS route until more information on the subject is made available / announced by the government.
