Hello All,
This is Krishna having a valid Tier 1 General VISA till October 2011 and I am working as Senior Software Engineer in a software company.
I have few questions about my VISA extension. I would really appreciate if you can clarify the following questions or direct me to some one who can answer these questions.
* I would like to know how soon can I apply for an extension to stay?
* I have my wife with me on a dependent VISA, Do we need to apply for an extension together?
* Is there any possibility that I can apply for an extension from India as my wife is travelling to india for 6 months?
Please help me with the above questions.

You can apply even today provided you fulfil the criteria. However, if you do this, you will be short of your ILR 5 years requirement and will be required to apply for a 2nd extension later on.

Yes, you should apply together. Otherwise, if you applied later, you will need to pay additiona fee (£500 instead of £250 which is for the application at the same time as yours).
* Is there any possibility that I can apply for an extension from India as my wife is travelling to india for 6 months?
I can't comment on this but I would recommend that you apply from within UK

an extension is for additional leave to remain, I have never heard of a extension for leave to enter.
