Tier 1 Dependent- Maintenance Funds Applying from outside UK

Post by shervin » Mon Mar 21, 2011 3:43 pm

Hello Forum,

I am in UK from May 2008 now getting married in May 2011. I would like to bring my wife along with me while returning early June 2011. Unfortunately I have not maintained funds in my personal account and currently I have slightly more than (£533+£800) from March 15th only.

Option 1 - Wait till I finish 3 months with the personal account and that will be around June 15th and apply around 20th June for my wife's tier1 dependent visa.

---- This is time consuming and I wish her to be with me as soon as possible. Is there a better way?

Option 2 - I am a contractor in a Major Bank and work via my own company and I am the only director. I have my Business Account with HSBC and has profits for year 2010/11. Can I show this as proof of funds? for maintenance of dependent wife. Using a letter from my company accountant (who is a charted accountant in UK) stating my salary and profit that I hold as a director with a supporting copy of the company Bank Statement and if needed company accounts eg: Profit&Loss statment and Balance Sheet.

Please suggest me the best option as I don't want to jeopardise my wife's visa. If Option 2 sounds complicated I have no other choice than wait till the end of June 2011 to make an application.

Please suggest

My understanding is that the funds have to be in your personal account, i.e. the account that is in your name. This verifies that the funds are at your own disposal.

I suggets waiting and not taking any risks by compliacting the application. Best / quickest applications are those which are the simplest.

A business account belongs to the business, not an individual .. even if the individual happens to be the owner of the business.

Maintenance funds must be in the account of the applicant(s), not in the account of a business that applicant(s) may own.

Thanks sushdmehta and chosenaik. I shall go for option 1 in such case!

An other request --> is it possible that I can show an Indian rupee account in India as proof of funds. My wife and my self have separate accounts in India with good balance in her account and mine separately, if we can show Indian banks account statements for 3 months in either of our names or It has to be my personal bank account in UK to show the Maintenance of funds?

Hi again..! Can you please suggest if there are any alternatives to show Maintenance Funds Applying from outside UK, I read the guidelines but its is a bit confusing. If I or my wife can show any of our personal account statments with in Banks in India and the funds shown are in Indian rupee Equivalent to £1500/- If that works it I will be really happy.

Dear Moderator sushdmehta,

Much appreciate your reply. But can you please be specific of the available options to show
maintenance funds. The link you provided says many things but there is a lot of ambiguity. Could you please be specific and help me find a way to sort this out. You suggestion will be a huge favour to me and my wife.
Many many thanks in advance.
