Tier 1 extension vs redundancy

Post by abc111 » Thu Jun 23, 2011 4:33 pm

Hi,

I am planning to go for T1(G) extension this December and have following questions.

I have accepted voluntary redundancy and this would mean that I will get some statutory redundancy pay as well as one month salary (tax free).

> Will I be able to count month's tax free salary 'earned' while being on company's notice towards earnings points?

> Do I need to cautious of anything here in general? As per my company I will get a letter for Home Office, whenever I want to, saying nothing about the redundancy (i.e similar to one I would get If I had resigned instead)

I have already got a job lined up. Will it be better to resign instead?

Thanks.

Not sure abt Q2, but regarding your Q1- you can not include redundancy pay out into your earnings (have a look in PG, i am sure I saw it there somewhere..)

but the money im talking about is not statutory redundancy payment but the salary i ll get while being on month notice by company hmm..but this tsx.free thing does make me concerned!! So of i joined new company and earn say 4 months salary before applying for extension then will i be able to show past 12 months salary (excluding this tax free salary )?

Please also advise if already having a job and still considering redundancy instead of resigning could be an issue?

Also do i need to be careful about anything here?

Thanks

I have been told that redundancy does not have to do anything with Tier 1 (G) extension so far I can demonstrate sufficient income.....is it true???!!!
