Awarded more points than Claimed for Earnings

Post by alinaqvi90 » Fri Jul 22, 2011 2:15 pm

Hi All

I have a bit of a confusion.

I just got extension for my tier-1 visa on the 18th.

In my application I mentioned that my base salary is 27k(the band that I claimed), but I get allowances for living away from home and therefore end up making about 35K(mentioned in my tax returns).

In the form received back from the home office it states claimed 27k(25 points). Awarded 45K(45 points). I have no idea how they calculated it to be 45K. I can only wish I earnt that much.

The question is:

Would I need to prove earnings of 45K+(awarded) for my ILR application or can I claim 27K(claimed) and still be eligible. The reason I ask is that in my current job anything above 27K is completely arbitrary dependant on my travel etc....

ps:
The most brilliant thing about it all is that the home office have not given me any contact information incase I have a query or an objection etc. Does any one know how to contact them ??

many thanks

Ali

This is a fault from HO -this time they are being wrong on the 'right' side though : )

I would suggest that you should get this write or at least get a written confirmation from HO acknowledging their mistake as it might pop up during your ILR review....

When it comes to ILR, you only need to score minimum required points, not the same points you did before. As it doesn't make a material difference to the outcome, I'm not sure you should waste their time with this.
