Tier 1 Visa Extension application

Hi,
I have to apply for Tier 1 General Immigrant Visa extension as my visa expires in Feb of 2012. (Exact date is 28FEB2012 )

But i wanted to apply for extension in Nov 2011. Can i apply for it?

What is the minimum date after which i could apply for the extension?

Also if i want to book an appointment for applying before how many days do i need to book for it to get a slot?

You can apply at any time bearing in mind that if you apply significantly in advance, you risk running short of enough time to qualify for ILR when you reach your 5 years as you might be short by a few months. This is because they will start your extension from the date they approve the new leave rather than from date when your current leave expires.
