UK Tier1 general 1 visa extension - passport Expiry - urgent

Post by DD86 » Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:27 pm

Hi, I have my passport expiring on 14/05/2012 (main applicant) and we have visa extension appt booked for March 2nd'2012. I was told before that i could get my passport renewed in a week but until i went there, i did not know that it takes a month for handwritten passports and there is no quick service as such! This is what the Indian High Commission has told me at least.

I just wanted to know if there is any passport validity constraint during the time of applying for the extension? I have spoken to UKBA and they say there are no such requirements (except that it should be valid during the day of extension), but few outside say it should be valid for 6 months at least during the time of visa extension. I am a little confused here.

Can anyone please kindly let me know if there is any minimum passport validity constraint whilst applying for Tier1 General extension. Sorry if am unclear anywhere. Replies highly appreciated.

Much thanks in advance!

if you read the T1 guidance, you need to submit 'current valid passport', so that implies valid on date of application
