Wages Query for Employment

Post by chauhanm » Fri Mar 16, 2012 8:25 am

Dear All,

I am working part-time on hourly basis. My company asks me in advance my hours to pay on last friday of the month. For Example. In Feb-2012 my employed asked me 22nd so I gave him actual worked hours upto 22nd and predicted hours from 22nd to 29th. suppose I gave him 100 hours for the month of February.

After 29th February my actual worked hours comes to 90 hours. So basically I have claimed 10 hours more which will show in March 2012 payslips as Prior month over payment 10 hours will be deducted. This could be a underpayment to me sometime .So now my questions are

Overpayment Scenario
1. If March is my first month of 12 months earnings then basically, my employer have deducted 10 hours payment suppose £100 from my march wages. Which I can not see as a problem in terms of CW eyes?

Underpayment Scenario
1. If in march I have received the payment of February £100 then - How do I declare to UKBA for 12 months earning. As only one payslip will be issued from my employer saying that prior month under payment.

Read my 12 months of previous earnings starts from March-2012

Thank you all for your help to guide me.
#If you have any questions , feel free to ask me

regards

Your case will be complicated if your either scenario happens frequently or on regular basis over the course of next 12 months! However, here is what may help you -

Use the first month Mar-12 as the starting point of first of 12 consecutive months for which you will claim the points for earnings.

If Mar-12 has any under payments or over payment minus (in either case, get the logic here) them from your gross salary and use that figure.

Apr-12 onwards all the way to Feb 13, you will be fine no matter if your salary shows under or over payment as it would be treated more in line with overtime or unpaid holidays, though not exactly the same.

In Feb-13 take the letter from employer that matches exactly as your salary slips (without minus the under/over payment) for Mar 12 - Feb 13 and make sure you are paid into your bank account to prove your case.

Good Luck

Thank you so much for your reply.

I am going to apply in November 2012 for visa renewal. And submitting payslips from Nov-11 to Oct-12.

I have now found on Nov-11 payslips that there was a overpayment deducted for Oct-11 Mean £100 was deducted from November-11 wages.

For example. Nov-11 pay £1000 gross less £100 oct overpayemnt then £900 is my gross and when I will apply £900 gross will be taken rather than £1000. Dose it make sense? or any other better idea.

Your reply is much appreciated.

thanks

what was already Messy is now getting Messier !!! :)

Simple Way will be -

Deduct any discrepancies from your first monthly salary slip (i.e Nov 11). Rest treat them as they are all the way until OCct 12. Except the first one (Nov 11) rest can be treated like overtime or unpaid holiday deduction and should be fine.

Good Luck

rax you are a gennie..

thank you so much for your help. If i remove £100 then my gross will come £1000 instead of £900 which is on payslips and therefore my net pay and bank pay will not match.

Overpayment Deducted for October £100
Gross = £900 Net £700 matches with bank statement

If I say to UKBA my Nov 11 wages are £1000 gross and £800 net then it will not match to payslip.

Do not know how to show ?

I know I m being stupid asking the things but I know this way only I can overcome any problems to my applications.

Please need your expert opinion on this.

Ok. Deep breath everyone :)

Your November Salary -

Your Take Home pay will always match your bank statement. What you will have to do is-

If your Gross for Nov £1000
Overpayment Deduction £ 100
Total Gross - £900
Total Take home £750 - This will match your bank statement.

When you claim for November - You would need to Count your November salary of £1000 as Gross (and not November salary £1000 - £100 for overpayment deduction) and not £900. If you can get the points without having to muck about with this + and -, avoid it.
