Hi,
Me & My Mrs both British Citizens, I have been a C+E Driver (HGV) for Royal Mail for since 2006.
We came across a Canadian trucking Company (A&B not real name of the company).
A&B came to UK and told lots about their company and the benefits they offer to foreign drivers in Canada. We came over to Canada with A&B in Oct.2012 under Pilot Program as Long Haul Truck driver.
Assuming that we can apply for our PR after 6 months after our first arrival in Canada , We will be eligible in April-2013 to apply for PR.
Now the question is Do I have to stay with the same company while my PR is being processed in Canada? Or Can I apply or change my occupation while my application is in process?
Can We apply for Immigration right now as we calculated our Points and points conclude to be 70 where as we need only 67 points to qualify for immigration under point system?
Please advise if you have been through the same circumstances as we are SUFFERING from this A&B transport Company.
Any Help/advise will be highly Appreciated. :(

One of the disadvantages of coming to Canada on a work permit, is that you depend on that employer until the day you become a landed immigrant. But, if you are a long haul trucker, simply look for another company to sponsor you. Here in Alberta, trucking companies are desperate for drivers.

You are also asking about the immigration based point system, well that's been on hold since July, and "radical" changes were made to it. However, you can always apply to any of the Provincial Immigrant Nominee Program. Once nominated, you should get your PR within a year - That's current processing time in London.

I really hope your Canadian experience changes for the better.
Life is short, so let's get moving!
