PIO Application Help!

Hi All

I am here for urgent help with regards to PIO application for my son.

Current situation, me and my wife have got PR in June this year and my son got British Passport and surrender his Indian passport.

Because of my mother in law is ill, my wife and son have to travel to india urgently so I have applied for tourist visa this week so hopefully get visa sometime next week and they will fly after that.

Now I will be in UK and want to make my son PIO application so when I go India after 2 months I can take PIO card for my son.

I need to know when I apply for PIO for my son, do I have to submit my son british passport or they just verify it when you apply and return to you?

Any advice/feedback will be really helpful in this matter.

Thank you for link but I only need to know whether they keep British passport while processing application or not.
Any I live in Scotland so I have to apply @ Indian consulate Edinburgh.
