Urgent PIO/visit visa

Post by sonub4ualt » Fri Sep 20, 2013 1:00 pm

Hi,

I recently registered my son as a british citizen and have applied for his passport yesterday via Premium - one week service.

After looking at this forum came to a conclusion that PIO cards take longer to process about 4 weeks from the date you apply. Does anybody have any idea how long does the normal visit visa takes to process and the price.

I have to be in India the latest 23rd Oct, as I have some urgent ceremony to be performed on 26th Oct. now that the passport would be arriving before 27th Sep, even if i apply on 28th, the date i can collect PIO card will be 28th Oct, which is of no use for now.

Could someone please advice which one to apply visit visa/PIO card, provided visit visa takes less time to process.

Thanks
Sonu

Thanks for your suggestion vij_sp_1980

I understand both are mutually exclusive, but they are going to be directed to HCI in london anyway, whereby losing money on both fronts. Its not about the money...its about the time i want to be reassured, so that i can book my tickets (for 3 people), not so logical without having right information on hand on deciding such things.

processing time normally couple of days (around 3 days if applied in person at one of the VFS offices in london)

Hi,

I have applied for tourist visa and got it approved within 3 days. As we both are Indian nationals, it was not much of a hassle for them to grant visa for our kid.

Hope this helps others.
