Where do i begin?

Post by miss_kellie » Sun Jul 15, 2012 2:19 pm

I am a UK Citizen but would love for my boyfriend to work here in the uk with me, he is from the Philippines. How hard is it to get sponsored to work in the UK?

I could really use some help as everything seems so daunting with the process.

Thanks in advance

There is a list here http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... tnov11.pdf on occupation shortages list.Unless he fits in one of those categories it is almost impossible to get a work visa.

He can come as a visitor but he will not be allowed to work.

Yes - a standard visitor visa is 6 months long. You can apply for longer term visas - but are unlikely to be granted on a first approval and still only allow 6 months in 12 in the UK.

Or get married and have him here as your dependant.
In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on :)
