Hi all,
I'm not sure what me/my fiancee are missing, and hopefully it is "only" a lot of stress over nothing.
She's a Taiwanese citizen and applying for a marriage visitor visa.
As far as I know, we've got everything that we need with one exception. I've done a bit of digging around and it doesn't look as though we absolutely need it, but it's bugging both of us that she can't seem to get it.
To clarify:
What we have:
1. Her passport
2. Her bank statements (however, they're in English, and have the bank's address, but not her's... so she got the branch staff to enter it - couldn't do it except handwritten - and stamped, but the stamp is the banks official Chinese stamp)
3. Itinerary of travel including honeymoon plans & bookings
4. My bank statements (all UK, branch stamped since it's an online managed account)
5. Letter from me saying where she'll be staying (i.e. with me), along with proof that the flat belongs to me (copy council tax bill, copy mortgage statement)
6. Correspondence with the registry office and letters from the Home Office saying no further investigation is required
7. A letter from her boss that she's been permitted leave to come to the UK to get married and that she'll be back in Taiwan afterwards to continue working, plus details of employment
Not sure if I've missed something there.
Anyway, what has us stumped is this line from the UK HO website (https://www.gov.uk/marriage-visa/docume ... st-provide) under the first heading (mandatory requirements): "When you apply you’ll need to provide:... proof of your future plans for the relationship, for example documents to show where you’ll live"
Question 1: Does this equate to a proof of address (i.e. the address where she lives now)?
Our concern is that there isn't much in the guidance notes (e.g. https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... ersion.pdf) that would suggest proof of address is required and what would be acceptable, considering that cultural mores and placement of importance on residence address is different (e.g. per her bank statements, it doesn't show her address, and neither do her other bills
Question 1a: If the answer to question 1 is "no", then is a proof of her address outside of the UK necessary to the application to proceed without guarantee of failure?
Question 2: Will the bank statements be acceptable?
To be clear, they are in English, but as stated, they do not contain her address in print or the bank's stamp in English. Again, because she banks with a Taiwanese institution and it is largely maintained online, we don't know whether this will cause problems.
