Divorce

Post by londnsangel » Tue Jun 19, 2018 3:03 pm

Hello, not sure if this is in the right forum.

12 years ago I was in a civil union with someone in the UK, we both lived there. I left there 10 years ago as things didn't end well, I want to dissolve the marriage as I want to move on.. I am in Ireland and she is still in the UK.. can I still use the UK courts and serve her the papers to the UK even though I'm in Ireland to process it through the UK courts? It's much quicker and simpler.. and she is happy to sign whatever I send.. its' just a huge fee so I want to know if sending it to the UK coming from me is still going to be processed there?

This link explains your options.

Since you have not lived for so long (5 years), you can just apply to divorce on your own.
