Nationality of a new born baby of a parent with ILR

Post by lak8788 » Thu Feb 28, 2019 4:24 pm

HI,

Can someone please help me to clarify this?

I currently hold the ILR visa and my husband holds the partner VISA. My baby is due in May 2019.
1. Will my baby be a British citizen automatically (because I have the ILR VISA)?
2. Do we have to register the baby as a British citizen using the Form MN1?

Thanks

Yes, if the baby is born in the UK.

No. You can apply for a British passport directly.
