Daughter's wedding: Visitor visa for unemployed mum.

Please, can you help me with some guidance as I am a bit worried about this situation!

I am on a spouse visa and my husband is a British citizen. Been living here for almost 8 years now. We got legally registered a year ago but having the actual wedding ceremony this September. I want to bring my mum from India to be with me at my wedding, at least for a few weeks.

Details of my mum:
1. She is unemployed and lives with my grandparents. She is the sole carer for my grandparents as they are old and really ill! She runs the house finances etc too.

2. She is a divorce however since this happened many years ago, I need to dig in to check if there are proper papers to prove this. You know how it happens in smaller cities/villages!

3. She doesn’t have any properties in her name but has her name “mentioned” in one of the property documents in order to allow her to live there.

4. She has all other proofs of identity like ration card, Aadhar card, bank account etc.

How do I get around this situation? I know this is quite a weak case, but I want to optimistic. I want to prove the home office that this is really for my wedding and nothing else. She has to go back to continue looking after her old parents. I can show all my wedding documents, like invitations, venue booking etc.

Reading at some of the refusals here has really got me worried! Please, can someone help?

One thing that might actually help is the fact that she is the sole carer for your grandparents. This is a strong tie to return home.
Who will be looking after your grandparents when she is in the UK? As the HO thinking will be if they can survive without her for that period it will therefore not be a strong tie. You have to demonstrate that in that period someone else is providing the care and there is a limit to that provision.

That's a very good point!! I am going to request one of my distant relatives to be with them for that time. They don't live in the same city and they need to go back to their respective place. Another option we had was to book a professional carer to be with them. We havnt decided on this yet, as we do have my mum's sister who lives in the same city but she might either be attending the wedding or might not even be in the country. Does any of this help?

I know it will be a more expensive option but presenting a quote/ letter of engagement for a professional carer is far more credible than using another relative. The quote/ letter would have to clearly state the period of care so it is clear that your Mum is returning to look after your grandparents.

It is not a 100% winner but it will establish the tie better than the other information you may be able to put forward.

Yes, that's right! Thank you for this point. Another thing I would like to clarify is, is it sufficient if I show my savings account for being a sponsor or is it stronger to show my payslips for employment. The reason being, I might not be in my job anymore when I am doing this process. Is that going to be an issue as well?

Also is there a tool to calculate specific money to show for accommodation maintenance? Let's say, for 2 weeks?

Money in the bank is always good.

Don’t get over complicated on the how much you need, there is no amount that is stipulated. Think along the lines of you and your family going on holiday... you don’t take thousands and thousands but you have enough to do the things you want.
