Right of Abode Visa from Pakistan

Hi Guys,
I'm hoping to get some advice from anyone who has experience with RoA or Certificate of Entitlement.
My son's currently stuck in Pakistan and my wife has recently been granted a spouse visa and is looking to come over in January.
I've been told that British Passport application can take up to year.
I'm wanting to apply for RoA.

Has anyone recently made an application from Pakistan in the last few months. Can someone talk me through how long the process took? And also what documentation was required.
