Can I spend 5 years of eligibility in the UK, with 4 years in England and 1 year in Northern Ireland/Belfast?

Context: I have spent 4 years in the UK now and now, I got an opportunity to move to Belfast for an year. Can I pursue this without breaking the continuity of 5 years residency in the UK?

You can spend the five years of presence in the UK anywhere within the UK, including Northern Ireland. So Belfast is fine and time spent there will count towards your ILR and eventual citizenship if that is your goal.

What you can't do is move to Dublin or Cork or Donegal, all of which are in the Republic of Ireland.

As rightly stated above, your visa isn't for England. Your visa is for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
