Irish naturalisation married to EU spouse

Post by bobbylad » Sun Aug 18, 2013 5:46 pm

I have been trying to find the answer to this online but cannot seem to find it.

I found that a non EEA spouse of an Irish citizen can apply for citizenship after 2 years of resident rather than the 5 for others, but what if the spouse was British and living in Ireland. Is it 5 or 2?

I know its a little bit of an unusual question but I would really appreciate any advice people can give.

See the exact rules here: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/mo ... riage.html

The rules are the same regardless of the nationality of the non-Irish spouse; however it is not 2 years.

You need:
- To have been living in Ireland in the past year
- The have been living in Ireland for at least an additional 2 years during the 4 years preceding the past years

So altogether it is 3 years.
