Register New Born with only Fathers PPS Number

Post by Ckwng » Tue Feb 07, 2017 3:03 am

Hi Everyone,

Just want to know any one experience this kind of situation,

I'm an EU citizen living in Ireland and I have a pps number, my gf is from Hong Kong (non EU)

Baby is due coming March, she doesn't have a pps number. I spoke with the register office they said need both parents to have pps number, just want to know what would happen if she doesn't have a pps number.

I also spoke with Social Welfare, they told me to go to my local gp with my gf or hospital get a letter saying she needs a pps number, than book an appointment with social welfare to get a pps number (i'm worried they won't give it to her, because she doesn't exactly have a visa to stay in Ireland) she came over on a holiday and stayed.

Thanks for the help on this.

~C
