Goodbye GNIB card. Hello Irish Residence Permit (IRP)

First time applicants registering from 11 December 2017 will be issued with the permission to remain in Ireland for more than 90 days are required to register and obtain an IRP.

All rules, responsibilities and entitlements that applied to holders of GNIB cards remain the same for holders of an IRP. An IRP does not entitled the holder to travel to or live in any other EU country.
The fee of €300 remains the same for an IRP as applied for a GNIB Card.

Same rules but a different look
The new IRP is designed to conform to EU standards in relation to colour, layout and security features. In addition to the information and photograph contained on the current GNIB Card the IRP will also contain a description of the individual's immigration permission. The new security features will include a microchip that will hold identity information.

Issue of the IRP
For those residing in Dublin who register at the Burgh Quay Registration Office, the card will not be issued on the day of the appointment but will be sent by post.
Therefore it is important that individuals provide their full address including the Eircode when registering.
For those registering outside Dublin, the immigration officer will arrange a date & time to return to collect the IRP.

So is that like no more gnib or temporary permission for future applications ? Will they issue straightaway residence card like others country for applications?

This is simply a change of “design” to bring it in line with other EU countries. A quick google search reveals very similar type of designs from other EU Countries. So the Stamp 4 and so on will not change but instead stated under the “Type of Permit” header of the new Irish Residence Permit Card

You'll still get a temporary IRP instead of a temporary GNIB, the only change as @shpirtshqipe stated is the design and name.
