I am a non EU National currently on a stamp 2 as a first year student in an Irish university. Me and my girlfriend who is Irish are looking to get married. She studies with me on my course at uni. I am on a student visa and will be for the next maybe 4-5 years. If we get married as I know after 3 years I can apply for Irish citizenship. But considering I'm on a stamp 2 which doesn't count towards reckonable residence. So am I right in thinking we will be married for 3 years living and studying together and then it won't count and I will be stuck going through painful Gardai proceedings for another 3 years after we both finish university ? Is there a way to have dual status or can I carry on being on stamp 2 and after 3 years I am still eligible for Irish citizenship. Can someone give me some clarity if at all please .
