Department of justice letter for stamp 4 renewal?

Post by absy1123 » Fri Aug 15, 2025 12:45 pm

The mother of my child is a non-EEA national here on a stamp 4 as parent of an Irish child citizen. It's time to renew her IRP card (for the second time). We applied a couple of weeks ago.

However I am confused at the department's request for further documents. In particular, they mentioned needing a "letter from the department of justice".

The only letter she probably has is the letter that came with her previous IRP renewal when approved. But this letter doesn't say anything much so I am clueless as to why they're asking for it.

To me this seems like unnecessary bureaucracy. If they are referring to another letter, where are we going to get that? I mean, do they not realise people move homes at times? She's hardly likely to have kept a letter since she first landed in Ireland five years ago.
