Great news......

http://www.newcommunities.ie/news/2011/ ... t-service/

CITIZENSHIP APPLICATION SUPPORT SERVICE, a new free high quality, and confidential citizenship service to support immigrants who are applying for Irish Citizenship will open to clients in April 2011.

The service will provide advice to immigrants on their path to Irish Citizenship through a series of help desk and phone lines around the country manned by community liaision volunteers from 50 different ethnic backgrounds, speaking 25 languages.

Navigating the citizenship process is challenging for immigrants with 50% of all intial applications to Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) returned because of poor quality applications, resulting in long delays for applicants.

Great initiative. In addition, it would help if the scope of their engagement could be expanded to include lobbying the government for immigration reform and better service by the DoJ.

Another quango, thats all we need. Its all nicey nice but If they are really that concerned then start using these public resources towards real immigrant issues likes of sham marriages, asylum issues, lack of clarity on immigration and citizenship times / absence of appeals process etc.
