Will I get an answer soon?

Post by damo » Sat Sep 10, 2011 6:59 am

Hello, I'm an American. My wife is an Irish citizen and we've lived here quite a few years. I've been on a stamp 4 for the whole time. I applied for Irish citizenship around 11 months ago. Everything is in order w/ my application; I've worked my entire stay here, I had the local immigration support group look over everything, etc...so I'm fairly confident I should eventually get it. About a month ago I received a request from the INIS people for current proofs of address for my wife and myself which I promptly sent them. My question is this: Is this a good sign? Does it mean that they are looking at my application and I might receive an answer soon? That is my hope but just wondering if anyone has experience with this type of thing. Also does anyone know how long spouses of citizens are waiting these days? When I applied I was told up to 18 months but then I heard they're trying to quicken things up. Anyway, any information on these questions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think I recall recently of a person here applying as a spouse of an irish citizen having received approval a month or two after sending in further documents. Hopefully you'll hear back fairly quickly. I've been waiting close to 7 months now (applied as an Irish spouse), so it's interesting for me to hear how long you've waited.
