Impact of penalties from HMRC

Post by alex87 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 2:42 pm

Good afternoon,

I am currently on the Tier 1- Entrepreneur and will be applying to extend my leave in two months.

Everything regarding taxation and filing was fine until the third year, when my accountant made changes to the dates of submission. He only made minor changes but unfortunately the way the periods were broken down meant that a short period of a few days (more than a year ago) became an accounting period and we were issued penalties.

I have paid these but am now wondering how this will impact my extension or a future ILR application. Our intention was not to not file on time or not pay tax on time, but unfortunately the stub period is what has lead to problems.
Should I mention this issue in a cover letter and send it with my extension application?

Thank you all for any advice that you can offer.

I don't think such kind of accounting errors could lead to visa rejections.many companies do errors in annual accounts why an entrepreneur is exceptional and should be 110%.
If you have paid penalty that should be fine and there is no need to mention this.make sure you have paid your employees contributions and any other Hmrc related bills.
