Submission of overseas criminal record certificate

Post by radman » Sun Oct 28, 2018 2:53 pm

Hi
I'm applying for TIER-1 entrepreneur visa. In the policy guide it says you have to provide a criminal record certificate from countries you have stayed in for more than 12 months in the last 10 years. I've stayed in Saudi Arabia for 18 months off and on, not continuously. But the problem is Saudi Arabia does not provide any such certificate. Will this be a problem for me? Any info on this would be a great help. Thanks

I think the guidelines do cater for countries that don't provide such certificates.

For visa purposes, if you are unable to obtain a certificate you must provide an explanation with your visa application, which details your attempts to obtain a certificate and confirms why this has not been possible. UKVI will consider your explanation against the situation in those countries and decide whether to waive the requirement. If UKVI concludes that it is possible for you to obtain a certificate but you have failed to do so your application is likely to be refused.
