Tier 1 Entrepreneur - 50,000 GBP - Venture Capital route

Post by SAKW » Wed Jan 30, 2019 7:07 pm

I am gathering information to assess whether it will be possible/feasible for me to apply for the Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa. I do not have a tech background, and I would like to take over the running of a business rather than setting up my own. Is it possible/feasible to get 50,000 GBP from a venture capital firm to do this? Has anyone had success under this route? What are the pros and cons?

I understand this is a more cumbersome process compared to competing for and getting the funds from a UK entrepreneurial seed funding competition endorsed by the Department for International Trade (DIT), or a UK government department making funds available for the purpose of setting up or expanding a UK business.

In addition does anyone have experience with xxxxxxxxx in this regard, and was it successful?

I am a Pakistani national.

Yes, it is feasible/possible.

There have been many who have done this

But there are also cases where it has led to refusals / primarily due to the quality of the VC. Genuine VCs should be fine, but there have been VCs seem to have just used this fraudulently.

Many thanks for this. Don't suppose example businesses that have been funded by VCs for this route could be shared, along with the VCs who funded them? Or perhaps links/finger in the right direction to relevant forum (completely new to this site).

I would have to search these forums to get that (but VC names would definitely not be there) and you should be able to do the same. I don't keep a separate record of those
