Interview Visit from Home Office to my Business Premises

Post by K1963 » Mon Mar 18, 2019 11:35 pm

I applied for an extension to remain on Tier 1 Entrepreneur (£50,000 route)visa on the day my initial visa expired on the 19/05/2017, it was an in-date application though but it was refused on the grounds of some gaps in the documents that I submitted. Whereas my accountant was supposed to have started preparing my RTI/FPS he missed some months submission and so I could not prove that I had employed 2 pple for up to 2 months before my application for extension. They stood their grounds even with a review.
I applied again as allowed on 5/05/2018 but only got an email today with a scheduled visitation to my office for an interview on the 4/04/2019.
Please what am I to expect or what questions do I expect to get from them and what paper works should I show?
My office address is the same as my home address meaning I do my admin works from home but I am a freelance teacher and my employees make contacts for me from their different locations. Do they expect to see and interview my employees also.
Expecting your advice and responses, mostly if you have had this experience in the past

Search the forum for interview questions.
There is no format or known guidelines for questions. So just be prepared with all documents on accounts, employees, business plans, etc. If they want to interview employees and they are not there they can do it later - but I don’t expect that.
If you are running a genuine business, the interview should be straightforward. Don’t try to make up answers or give wrong answers- if you don’t know something immediately better to say so and agree to get back
My comments are in no way meant to be advisory. I have no professional knowledge of immigration. These are based on my own experience, convictions and personal interpretation of publicly available information.

The interview will follow a different path than those previously. There is more emphasis on the following three areas:

The investment of your funds both in terms of your accounting / introduction of funds into the business and the use of the funds within the business.

The credibility/ sustainability of the business. Is the business genuine or is it no more than an operating model to gain ILR in the long run.

Employment of qualifying staff, proof of payment (RTI, bank accounts showing payment) and again related to the second point above - what were / are the staff doing in and for the business. Is their employment solely or mainly to meet the visa requirements rather than as a true business decision / need.

The interview is likely to last 3-4 hours.
