Hi group, thanks in advance for your help.

My partner has access to public funds (they have ILR), and has decided to quit their current job to pursue a course which starts this autumn. Between now and then could they apply for any financial support via public fund please? They would not have income during this gap period and I will be the only earner of the family. We have two young children and currently only claiming child benefits.

Potentially, yes, your partner may be entitled to New Style JSA and/or UC. However, your partner may face a sanction for voluntarily leaving employment, but, for UC that’s only if they has all work related requirements, which they may not if they are the primary carer for a young child. You should contact help to claim, as below, for a full benefit check:
