Post by Reddevil » Mon Jul 04, 2011 12:42 pm

Hi one of my friend Receives income support and Incapacity benefits. ( British National)

She is Moving to Austria not sure temp or permanent. Will she Receive Same benefit in Austria.

When should she tell the authorities about change .

How much benefit she get and would she receive it or Austrian government will provide her in case she stays there permanent.

Only if she is going abroad 'temporarily' then she can get:

Income Support for up to 4 weeks.

Incapacity Benefit for 26 weeks. Or more than 26 weeks if she is also in receipt of Attendance Allowance or Disability Living Allowance.

In all circumstances she must inform the DWP before leaving the country (ideally 3-4 weeks prior notice).

About the second half of your question, I would suggest you to get this info from Austrian social security department or from their embassy.
