Timeline - including "technical error" in biometri

Post by tashaslash » Wed Sep 12, 2012 4:43 pm

1. Type of application: (Switching / Extending): Switching
2. If switching, category changing (switching) from: N/A
3. Date of expiry of current leave: 16-Sep-2012
4. Number of dependants applying at same time: 0
5. Date application posted: 19 July 2012
6. Date application received at UKBA: 23 July 2012
7. Date payment debited: Not sure (but did online application)
8. Payment mode : Debit card
9. Acknowledgement letter received: No
10. Biometric letter received: 30 July 2012 (posted 26 July)
11. Date of biometrics enrolment: 30 July 2012 / 31 August 2012 - first set was unsuccessful due to 'technical error', received new biometrics letter on 30 August 2012
12. Date of approval: awaiting
13. Date of return of passport and other documents: awaiting
14. Date (new) leave to remain valid from: awaiting
15. Date BRP received: awaiting

I've so far faxed the UKBA twice since 31 August to request an expedited decision since the technical error was on their part, only to be posted a form letter saying I didn't fit the criteria for an expedited decision.

If you want to contact them - replies are seemingly limited and by post - you can fax them at "Team 15", 0114 207 2536, including your case reference, DOB, name and passport origin.

The enquiry helpline doesn't have much info, though the first person I spoke to was able to look at my file and tell me that my biometrics had been successfully captured the 2nd time. In subsequent calls, I was told that that shouldn't have happened as they're not allowed to look at our files. SHRUG! Fingers crossed this is sorted out as fast as some of you guys here.

Here is what I posted in another thread

1. Type of application: Tie 2 general
2. If switching, category changing (switching) from : tier 4
3. Date of expiry of current leave: 31 Dec 2012
4. Number of dependants applying at same time: 0
5. Date application posted: 31/07/2012
6. Date application received at UKBA: do not know
7. Date payment debited: 30/07/2012 (online application)
8. Payment mode : Debit card
9. Acknowledgement letter received: n/a
10. Biometric letter received: 09/08/2012
11. Date of biometrics enrolment: 09/08/2012 Post Office
12. Date of approval: awaiting
13. Date of return of passport and other documents: awaiting
14. Date (new) leave to remain valid from: awaiting
15. Date BRP received: awaiting

I received a letter from UKBA today, the letter was dated 12 Sep 12. And it told me to RE-ENROL the biometrics!!!!!!!

The reason they are giving is ''Unfornately the biometrics process was not successful due a technical issue.'' I went down to post office and re-done the biometics, and asked the post woman there. She said I was not the only one re-done biometrics!!

After over 1 month of waiting, this is what I got. I hope others are luckier than me.

I will try contact them on Monday, it may not get me any information but at least will make me feel better.

tashaslash, have you got your passport and visa back? It is another month after you have done your second biometric, can you update your progress? I haven't heard anything from UKBA yet after almost 2 weeks of second enrollment.

Yes I have! I received the passport on Friday 21 September WITH a letter dated 20 September. It said I would received my biometric residence permit 'within 7 working days' but thankfully I received it the very next working day, ie Monday 24 Sep.
So in total, it was 3 weeks from biometric enrolment to having all my necessary documents in my hand.

Thank you very much for the information, you are very lucky to have it so quickly. What service did they post your BRP and passport back, royal mail, or parcelforce? I did have another complication, I changed address shortly after my second enrolment. Don't know if that is going to affect the processing time.

Update: I finally got my passport back today, it is such a long wait.

Regarding change of address, there is no need to fill in any form as someone advised. And change of circumstance form will only delay your application.

What I did is just send them a letter saying that I changed address(not any form of any kind, just a traditional letter), that really works, they post my passport to my new address.

Hope this help others in the future, everyone good luck.
