urgent help: visa expire and passport with HCI India

Actually i have made an application for new passport for my daughter born in UK and with that application i have submitted my and my wife original passport. they require this for verification. Its been over 2 months now and they said that its still in process. Now my visa is about to expire in few days and i dont think that i will get my passport back in these days.

So i am confused as how can i make an application to UKBA for my visa renewal. some of my friends said that u can make application to UKBA without submitting original passport BUT i have to give them all the proof that my passport is with indian high commission. is this true?

I have got all the receipt which shows that i have sent my passport to indian high commission via post and email conversation with indian high commission which shows that our file is still in process. is this enough for UKBA?

One more thing which is confusing is this, when i make application to UKBA for my Tier 2 general application, my company is giving me a letter stating that company will accommodate me and my family for the period of first month. so do i need to maintain any balance requirement for my wife? I did have balance of £1200+ for more than 2 and half months BUT i withdrew those money for some family emergency so now i can not fulfill UKBA's requirement of 3 months now.

Please let me know how can i proceed with my application.

I am failing to understand why would HCI need over 2 months to get your daughter's passport done? And why do they need to hold your passports till then?

I've got my UK born baby's passport done from HCI and it was done in 3 business days !

Regarding your funds maintenance, how long have you been in the UK?

If it has been over 12 months, I think you need to maintain the funds by yourself. Letter from employer may not be enough.

I submitted my application HCI through post, so they needed our passport for verification. after doing that we got a call from HCI after 1 and half months saying we did not submitted address proof so they have not proceed our application.

regarding maintenance funds, Yes i have been in this country for more than 12 months and i am currently on Tier 1 general and switching to Tier 2 general. I have not maintained any funds for my application as my employer is willing to giving me a letter saying that they will take care of my expenses. regarding my dependent(my wife) she is also in this country for more than 12 months and we did maintain around 1200 funds for 2 and half months but because of some financial emergency i had to withdraw that funds.

So basically, if UKBA is accepting funds for 2 and half months then i think it will be fine but i am confused.

Also, If i show maintenance funds from india, would that be acceptable by UKBA or not?
