New job/employer on tier 2 visa-advice needed!

Post by KHK86 » Wed Jun 05, 2013 10:24 am

Hoping for some advice from anyone who is on a tier 2 (general) visa in the UK who has received a new job whilst on the tier 2...

I am currently on a tier 2 visa (general) which I have been on since 2011. I have received a new job with a different organisation, so need to do another tier 2 application. A CoS has been applied for and I hope to have it this week. i am uncertain about when to resign/do my application as obviously i cant work in my old job with a new visa... if anyone can help me out with the below it would be great!

1) This week I receive (hopefully) by CoS. If i put in my application, and do a same day application/approval in Croydon and it is approved, does that then mean I cannot work in my current role to serve out my notice? meaning I wouldn't be able to do the application until my notice is served? has anyone applied for a on the day appointment by themselves, without using a immigration service/lawyer?

2) As i understand, i need to reapply under the tier 2 application process as I did originally. So does that mean I need to do the below process...(i already meet some requirements like maintenence as i have done a tier 2 app already?)

3) do i need to fill in the below form (the online app?)
Fill in a online application form https://apply.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/se ... 3dformList

which I'm assuming will then prompt me to pay, and also a form to take to a post office to do my biometric details

then I fill in this form hard copy http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... nform1.pdf

and make a appointment through the link here for in person application? http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/about ... ginperson/

any guidance would be great!

thanks!

You cant work for your old employer right from the date you mention as your start date in your CoS with your new employer. If your application is successful, this date will act as your work start date with your new employer.

You need to make a new application all over again, as if you are making it for the first time. If you have all the documents and evidence sorted out you don't need a solicitor be it PEO/Postal applications.

Don't give notice until your application is approved.

If you need to give, say, 4 weeks notice in your present job ask the new sponsor to put the work start date in the CoS 4-5 weeks ahead of the date of the personal application at Croydon. This is because if your application is approved you can only continue in your present job until the work start date in the new CoS.

It is not easy to make an appointment at Croydon. Consider also a priority postal application:
