tier 2 visa

Post by maylmi12 » Wed Aug 14, 2013 5:17 pm

I have been living in the UK for 5 years now, and recently just applied for tier 2 general visa which I have now got and can stay for 3 years with my current employer.

Could I have been able to apply for the British citizenship?
I have read online that you can apply after you have been residing in the UK for 5 years, and 3 years if you are married.

No citizenship without settlement (ILR).
Read 245HF(c).

The qualifying residential period for settlement as spouse of a settled person / British citizen is also 5 years. And, unless married to a British citizen, you must be free from immigration restriction (ILR) for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for British citizenship.
Life isn't fair, but you can be!
