Some Hope

Post by lucky177 » Sun Jul 02, 2017 6:23 pm

So I've had the opportunity to study this forum during dire times of need for information on Tier 2 (General) rules, regulations and procedures.

I deem it necessary to share my experience with you as I feel it may give you hope in times of need.

Lost my job in December 2016.

Had no clue on what my options were, but reading this forum, several times, slowly, steadily, built up my knowledge, which in turn helped me sleep well at night, knowing that there are options available.

One thing lead to another, after six months, I finally secured a new Tier 2 - LTR and will be back on track very shortly.

Everyone's scenario will have It's own technicalities, but, don't lose hope, stay determined.

The dreaded letter of curtailment....well thank-GOD I didn't have to see it.

Good-luck!!

Nice to have a positive post.

However you should bear in mind that for ILR you should not have a period of non employment of more than 60 days, i.e.calculated from the date you finished your job to the date you submitted a new tier 2 application. This is completely separate and different to the 60 days curtailment letter.

Thanks for the feedback.

And yes, that is absolutely correct when applying for ILR on the basis of a five year long continuous (without a break of 60 days) employment tenure as a Tier 2 migrant. All these intricacies...!

What was your timeline then between last date of employment and new application for tier 2 general so that members have the full picture?

Will clearly be an issue for ILR and likely refusal. Suggest start thinking towards the future on what you will do if ILR is your ultimate aim.

Yes, I will hopefully be qualifying for the 10 year long residence route next year.

For now, I'm just glad to be back in employment.

I do appreciate the advice, I read many of your replies to different queries and found them to be accurate.

Good luck and so pleased you found a sponsor/job and I know it must have been very stressful for you.

Post if you have any questions on your next step for ILR. Also if you have dependents, there are different requirements for them too if you go the long residence route.
