For the past two years I have been working for my company in the UK under a Tier 2 General Visa. Over the same time frame my wife has been working under a Tier 2 Dependent Visa.
Just recently I have been recalled back to Canada on a permanent basis by my company and will be moving back in the next couple of months. We've been informed that the minute I leave the UK, my wife's Tier 2 Dependent Visa is no longer valid and therefore she will no longer be able to work.
We've also been informed that the guidelines are my wife must exit the UK at the same time I do as I'm the main applicant which leads to my question...would my wife be able to stay behind in the UK for anywhere between a few days to a week or two in order to take care of our affairs here (i.e. deal with movers, canceling lease, etc.) after I exit the UK?
Note we are both Canadian passport holders and therefore don't require an actual visa to enter the UK and she won't be working during this time either. Seems a bit odd that she would need to leave at the same time given she would be able to theoretically leave the UK and then return the same or following day without the requirement for a Visa under her Canadian passport (provided she gave enough comfort to border control that she has a one-way flight to Canada booked later on, lease has been cancelled, etc.).
Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.
