Tier 2 (purple certificate)

Hi,
I have been on tier 2 ( purple certificate) for over two years.
According to guidelines, I don't need a purple certificate any more as I have been working in the UK for a continuous period of more than 12 months
However, I am unsure of what exactly that means for me. Is there anything else to it or is it just that I don't have to apply for a new one if I decide to change my job?
