Switching Tier 2 ( Dependant) to Tier 2 ( General) Questions?

Post by Globalmind » Mon Nov 06, 2017 11:20 pm

Hi everyone,

My visa is expiring in January 2018 and I will like to find a potential sponsor to keep working in the UK.

I have the following questions:

1.- As I have been living more than 2 years in the UK ( Tier 2 dependant) if I get an offer with a COS do I need to apply in my home country?

2.- Is the cooling off period is going to count? In order to avoid this do I need to get offer and COS before my current leave expires?

3. Do I need to pass an SELT English test? WhenI submit my new visa from my home country do I need to show this?

4.- Do I need to prove an experience worker salary?

Thank so much for any information or feedback, and thanks for all the support that we have in this group!

Kind regards,

Yes you apply from home country. How long you have lived in the UK is irrelevant to this.
2.- Is the cooling off period is going to count? In order to avoid this do I need to get offer and COS before my current leave expires?

Cooling off period is NOT applicable to PBS dependents changing to PBS main visa holders.
3. Do I need to pass an SELT English test? WhenI submit my new visa from my home country do I need to show this?

My understanding is yes, you need to meet the English requirement to get the points and provide evidence.
4.- Do I need to prove an experience worker salary?

If you are over 26 years old then yes and depending on your SOC code. You must however be offered/paid a minimum of £30,000pa.

Do you have a sponsor yet who is an HO approved one?
