New Baby before ILR

Post by Nitch » Mon Feb 19, 2018 2:23 pm

Hello,

I'm on a tier 2 (General) and plan to apply for ILR on October 2018.
My wife and I are expecting a baby next month (March 2018). I was wondering if it would be possible to avoid applying for a depndant visa for her, and wait until we apply for the ILR as the time in between isn't necessarily sufficient, and the cost is quite high.
Am I being ridiculous, or is this a legitimate move?

Thanks!

You can wait and apply for citizenship for the baby once you are granted ILR.

Many thanks.
Will we be able to travel with the baby? She will have citizenships from countries who are permitted to enter the UK without a visa.

Thanks!

Ideally not as the child is very obviously not a 'visitor'.

Figured as much, however with my eldest we traveled before he got his visa. A little wait at the airport, but they then gave him a temporary one at the airport without too much fuss. It has been over 3 years ago, and I wonder if they got tougher since.

Worth a try but expect delays and a possible reprimand.
