Switching Emplyer UCOS end date

Post by silverocks » Thu Mar 15, 2018 12:38 pm

Hi Moderators

I planning to switch to a new employer please could you suggest what dates should go on the UCOS?

I am done 4 years with my current employer so I have 2 years left as a tier 2 migrant, so does the new employer will issue the cos for 2 years or regardless they will issue a 3 year cos.

Thanks.

Even if the CoS is for 3 years, you won't be issued a visa for more than 2 years to bring to the 6 years maximum on Tier 2.

Thanks CR001 for your prompt reply.

So it does not matter if they put 2/3 years on the COS?

Hi CR001

I know that I need to pay IHS fee for every new application. So as I have 2 years left can I pay just for 2 year or the full 3 years as the new employer will issue the cos for full 3 years.

Also what happens to the double payments, I will get refund 2 years IHS fee from last application and 1 year from this new application?
Thanks

the full 3 years as the new employer will issue the cos for full 3 years.
This one, otherwise your application won't be progressed.

You could ask for a refund, no guarantee you will get one though.

You won’t get a refund if:

your visa application is successful but you don’t come to the UK
you leave the UK before your visa ends, for example to make a new application
you’re told to leave the UK before your visa expires
you’re applying for indefinite leave to remain or changing to another visa where you don’t need to pay the IHS

If you already know that you have another 2 years to complete 6 years on T2G.
Better ask your new employer to issue 2 years COS, so you can save money on IHS surcharge. I did the same.

Thank you all for the response.

I think I will ask them for 2 years COS and save £200 atleast.

Thanks
