Hey guys,
I am a teacher in Karachi Pakistan and have an Engineering Bachelors and Masters from the UK. I was looking in to teaching in the UK and I thought that were I to come in as a Secondary school Math teacher I would qualify under the 'shortage occupation' list and could avoid a lot of immigration hurdles.
However, I do not have a QTS which means that I will have to pay for training in the UK (Which I can't afford at the moment). There is a salaried training route for teachers with work experience which I do qualify for and I thought this would work perfectly as some schools do pay up to the minimum pay requirement(20,800) for shortage occupations. But then I came across some issue. So I will be hired by the school as a Trainee secondary math teacher and not a qualified secondary math teacher. Being a Trainee does that still qualify the position under the Shortage occupation list?
Another avenue I was considering was that I am still 26 until September, could I apply as a new entrant and thus only require to be paid a minimum of 20,800 or is that route only available for fresh uk graduates with a current tier 4 visa?
Any help or better yet personal experience on the matter can be very helpful!
