Tier 2 Dependent - Married in South Africa but not a South African

Post by gry_va » Wed Feb 06, 2019 8:17 am

Hi,

I’m a Tier 2 General Visa Holder.

I and my partner got married in South Africa (We both are Indian National)

I’m in UK right now and I want to apply for Tier 2 Dependent Visa for my partner. We received our Abridged Marriage Certificate on the day of our marriage. Can we use Abridged Marriage Certificate and Certified copy of Marriage Register or do we need to get Unabridged Marriage Certificate?

Thanks

The handwritten marriage cert you received is fine.

Not sure why you believe an 'unabridged' marriage cert is required.

Thank you CR001 for your response!

VFS Global website says birth/marriage certificate must be issued by a government authority and must have a apostille and hence the worry

The one we received on the day of marriage has just a stamp from our marriage officer.

Yes but it does state something more official at the top of the page re government etc.

They do not have to be apostilled.

Hi dear Moderator,

I saw you answered my question (from my other post on 27th Aug 2019) here so i just want to follow up:

When you say : They do not have to be apostilled., could I know where the resource is?

My case is very similar as I'm going to marry in Denmark (the marriage certificate will be in Danish, German and English), but I myself is not a Danish citizen and nor will I apply my Tier 2 dependent visa from Denmark.

So just want to know if it's totally fine not to get the certificate legalised by Denmark Foreign Affairs Authority?

Thanks.

Can you please post in your own topic instead of digging up older threads to tag onto.

Perhaps read the forum rules as well please
