Gap Between Dates during T2 General Visa Renewal

Hi,
I just got my new BRP card under Tier 2 General VISA. I had applied for the renewal as per below timelines -

1. Applied for Tier 2 General Renewal - 8th June
2. Submitted Bio Metric - 12th June
3. Previous Tier 2 General Visa Expired - 12th June
4. Got Visa Approval email from Home Office - 14th June
5. New Tier 2 General Visa Start Date(as per BRP Card) - 25th June

I used to get Visa start date as the date I had submitted my biometrics. But with the above details I have now got a gap between #3 and #5. What will be my status between 12th June to 25th June. Is it normal and won't create any problem during future application, e.g. ILR etc? Or should I contact Home Office and tell them the start date on my new VISA might be wrong

Also given I have now got my new BRP card what happens to my old BRP card which has expired? Should I return it to Home Office. Earlier they used to take it while renewing the VISA.
