Extending Tier-2 VISA

I have applied for extending my Tier-2 VISA and submitted biometric via sopra setria (Belfast) on 28.06.2019. The starting date in my CoS is 01.08.2019. But I have not got any decision on my visa application. I haven't yet resigned from my current work as I thought I should resign only after I get a decision on my VISA. Now my question is whether they are delaying the approval of my visa because I haven't resigned yet?

Thank you very much for your prompt reply. Actually, my HR told me that I can't have two sponsorship at the same time. So, this means that my next sponsorship will only be valid once I join my new job? Please clarify.

Your current visa will be cancelled automatically once your new visa is issued. Once your new visa is issued, you should start working for your new sponsor.

Thank you very much for the clarification. So this means that I can serve the notice period (in my case it is 1 month) even my current visa is cancelled and the new visa is generated?
