Tier 2 Date of application defnition

Post by ZhengWei3 » Mon Sep 02, 2019 11:42 am

Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone can please clarify the definition of the "date of application" for in country tier 2 application (switching from tier 4).

The policy guidance states the following but it's quite vague
"202. For applications made in the UK, the date of application is taken to be the date of posting
or, where the application form is sent by courier, the date on which it is delivered to us. For
online applications, this is taken to be the date of submission."

I have already paid the tier 2 application fees (super priority) but have not attended a biometrics appointment yet as I am a few days short of satisfying the 12 months of PhD rule. Is my application considered "submitted" since I paid the fees or is it only submitted after I attend the biometrics appointment? Again, this makes a massive difference because of the 12 months of PhD rule and my job start date.

Thanks in advance!

Date of application is the date you submit and pay online and NOT the date of your UKCVAS Sopra appointment. The piece you quote states this very clearly.

Ok thanks a lot for the clarification.

If I withdraw my tier 2 application now without attending the biometrics appointment will I get the application + super priority fees back? (I realised the I.H.S is refundable but takes a while).
